Munich, 10 September 2024 – gridX, Europe's leading provider of smart energy management solutions, has reached another milestone in its corporate history: as of September, the scale-up now employs more than 200 people at its two locations in Aachen and Munich, as well as remotely across Europe. This unprecedented growth underlines the dynamic development of the company, which celebrated its hundredth team member in summer 2022 – six years after it was founded as a start-up. The team has now doubled in size in just two years. The growth of gridX also reflects the development of the market for smart energy management systems for home energy management and e-mobility.
“Given the turbulent times we are going through and the fact that many companies have had to cut staff in recent years, I am particularly proud of our fast development from start-up to scale-up,” says Tim Steinmetz, Managing Director and Chief Growth Officer of gridX. Steinmetz sees several reasons for the smart energy expert's flourishing growth. One key factor is the increasing popularity of new energy solutions and smart home energy management systems (HEMS). However, increasingly widespread e-mobility is also creating a widespread foundation for the use of gridX technology. “Smart HEMS and dynamic load management for electric vehicles charging infrastructure are currently more in demand than ever – we recently saw this firsthand at the industry's leading trade fair, The Smarter E in Munich,” explains Steinmetz. He also interprets gridX’s strong growth as confirmation of its current strategy: “The continuous growth of our team confirms the effectiveness of our corporate strategy and the demand for our future-proof and industry-leading product. Our ability to attract talented specialists even in challenging times reinforces our approach and our vision,” he continues.
With the growing team, which now includes colleagues from over 35 countries worldwide, gridX can not only consolidate its pioneering role in Europe, but also further expand its expertise. “gridX is perceived as a key innovative employer in the energy sector. This is essential in order to fulfill our mission and drive the company forward,” says Steinmetz. The smart energy company attaches great importance to building up all necessary expertise internally instead of relying on external service providers. This is reflected in the team’s extensive expertise: from product development and production to human resources, recruiting and legal, through to finance, IT security, customer success management and marketing – all areas are covered in-house.
This approach guarantees quick decision-making and gives gridX exceptional agility and speed. All departments work closely together and pursue the common goal that gridX technology will be the digital infrastructure of the future energy system. “We are convinced that our technology is only as good as the people who work on it. That's why we are consciously investing in our large, experienced team so that we can continue to provide the best possible energy management solution for the market in the future,” explains Steinmetz. According to the management, the team will continue to grow sustainably in the remaining months of the year and in 2025 in order to accelerate strategic initiatives such as the collaboration model with OEMs, “Ready for gridX”, new use cases for flexibility marketing and expansion into indirect sales channels.
