At gridX, diversity isn’t just a buzzword — it’s the pulse of our company. With over 35 nations represented and a rich tapestry of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives, our team is a true reflection of global collaboration. Whether it’s women taking the helm in leadership roles, employees of different age groups bringing in both fresh and seasoned perspectives or a variety of cultures blending together to drive innovation, diversity is our strength.
Our commitment to diversity starts with one of our core values: Come as you are. It’s more than a slogan; it’s an open invitation for every individual to bring their authentic self to the table. We believe that by embracing who we are — our unique backgrounds, identities and experiences — we unlock the true potential of our collective creativity and innovation.
During our annual Team Week this year, we organized a voluntary workshop that focused on the topic of diversity and what it means/how it’s viewed by our team members. In this workshop, we wanted to understand the nuances of how employees see diversity and where they see areas of improvement for gridX.
Nearly 40 participants took part in the workshop. We started by having “question stations”, where people could write answers, observations or additional questions on Sticky notes and add them beneath the station. This was meant to promote a more honest dialogue as people felt more comfortable having time to think about and write out their thoughts rather than being called upon in a crowd of their peers. Questions included: When do we feel marginalized? How can gridX promote greater diversity? What does true inclusion look like at gridX?
Once everyone added their responses, the floor was opened for discussion. The conversation that followed was open, at times uncomfortable, yet always constructive. Team members shared experiences that ranged from times when they felt included to when they felt sidelined. It was clear that while gridX has made great strides, there’s still room for growth.
One of the most powerful takeaways was the importance of listening — really listening. When people shared their experiences of feeling excluded, it wasn’t about pointing fingers but about understanding how we can prevent these feelings in the future. Marginalization can happen in subtle ways, sometimes even unconsciously, and addressing these issues requires continuous effort and awareness.
The workshop group also explored the idea of ‘micro-inclusions’: small, everyday actions that make a big difference. Whether it’s acknowledging someone’s unique perspective, celebrating cultural differences or ensuring that everyone “has a seat at the table”, these actions are what build a truly inclusive environment.
As we move forward, gridX is committed to turning these insights into action. Diversity is not just about numbers to post on LinkedIn or our website; it’s about creating an environment where every team member feels empowered to contribute and come as they are. We’ll continue to foster open dialogues, encourage diverse voices and ensure that inclusivity is at the core of our growth.
Here’s to celebrating our differences, learning from each other and continuing to build a workplace where everyone belongs.
Sounds like the perfect workplace for you? We are always on the lookout for new individuals to join our diverse team.
