Munich, 5 October 2023 – In 2023, Europe's leading smart energy company, gridX, has continued its strong growth of the previous year. While the young company based in Aachen and Munich started the year with 127 employees, by October the team had already grown by almost 30 percent to over 160 employees. gridX has been pursuing a hybrid work model since the Corona pandemic and employees are free to choose from where they work – in the office, at home or even from other European countries. Having sufficient space for development and on-site work, however, remains a priority. For this reason, the office space must also grow alongside the team. At the end of 2022, the Aachen location was already expanded for this reason, including a new location for the company’s in-house production site. Now the Munich location is following suit and also expanding. This means that half of gridX’s workforce, which is located in Munich, receives the necessary space and the optimal working environment.
More room for development
From here on in, the new gridX workspace is 1,400 square meters located in the center of Munich, just a short distance from the Theresienwiese. The new location offers 48 workstations equipped with large height-adjustable desks and modern furnishings in three different work zones – a quiet area for focus work, a team zone for group meetings or projects, and an open space for everyday work. In addition, various meeting rooms, a roof terrace and large social areas are available on site, including a lunch area where, among other things, the team can continue their tradition of eating together, even in a rapidly growing team. The location is also very well connected in terms of transport infrastructure. And the new office offers yet another special feature: it has space for its own studio, from which the in-house energy conference "gridXdays" will be broadcast on November 15 and 16. For the third edition of the conference, gridX expects around 40 expert guests both on site and virtually to discuss the most pressing topics in the energy industry.
Ambitious targets drive strong growth
gridX is currently pursuing ambitious growth targets and is therefore going through a phase of strong scaling. The company, founded in 2016, has developed from a start-up to an established and leading player in the smart energy sector over the past year. Its customer base is growing continuously and increasingly includes partners on an international level. Production of the company's proprietary IoT gateway and centerpiece of the smart energy management system, the gridBox, has been ramped up significantly, not least due to the expansion of the in-house production facility and the subsequent increase in production capacity. "We've set ourselves big goals, and we're right on track. None of this would be possible without our outstanding team – the true all-stars of the energy industry," says Tim Steinmetz, Managing Director and Chief Growth Officer at gridX. The gridX management is also targeting significant growth for 2024, when it comes to both business and employees.
