Here comes the sun

85% of charging processes take place at home or at work. The long parking durations and comparatively low charging volumes are ideal conditions for solar charging. This does not only make e-mobility more sustainable but also reduces costs. Learn more about solar charging and how to implement it in our webinar.

What happens if the sun does not shine?

A range of strategies are possible here:

  • Forecast-based: If it is expected that solar power will not suffice, power is drawn from the grid.
  • Time-based: The grid is used if the charged volume is below a given minimum at a given point in time.
  • Minimum charging: A minimum volume is charged from all available sources as soon as a car starts charging.

Which devices are supported already?

You can find a list of all supported OEMs here. Upon request we can also provide you with a detailed list of all devices.

How does the gridBox recognize the PV system and charging points?

The gridBox scans the local network for connected energy appliances. The exact connection and communication with the individual devices varies from model to model.

What's the basis for the hardware and software of the gridBox?

The gridBox uses an ARM Chip comparable to the ones in modern smartphones or tables. The hardware is developed by gridX in cooperation with partners and designed specifically for its use case.
The operating system of the gridBox is dubbed gridOS and is a minimalist OS developed and maintained by gridX. gridOS is built based on Linux.

Does the loadmanagement run directly on the gridBox?

Yes, all applications are run locally on the gridBox. This makes any application robust to connection outages.
